Ideas to change Wi-Fi connecting proirity

Zhihong GUO
Hi all,

There are so many Wi-Fi access points scanned and be able to be connected, sometimes the one selected to connect is not the one you are prefer to use. I want to enable the end user to mark an AP as the first choice when it is connectable. The basic idea is to add a check box to the AP dialog attached as image. When the check box selected, the device will connect to the AP at first when it is available, no matter if the previous connected AP is available or not. Do you think it is nice to have on Android? Thank you so much!

Hi all,

A little comments on the previous mail. The change request aims to improve the mechanism of Android platform to select AP to connect to automatically, it does not change any of the procedures done after manual operation.
The "first choice when available" means the user prefer it to be the "first one" in all of the active APs. When user click a checkbox of an AP and there is another active AP marked as "first choice", a pop up alarm dialog will notify the user they are changing the "first AP" config. But when the user choose an AP as "first one" and there is no other active "first choice", such configuration only act on the current one and will not change other "first choice" APs (those are not active) to be "normal".

Is that clear?
