Hi All,

I am newbie in Android programming.
I am trying to retrieve self Phone number not stored in the SIM but device memory.

getLine1Number is not working when the number is NOT stored in SIM card.

Can you please explain in details, how to retrieve the phone number programmatically in such cases ?

Hi Giri,

If you're looking for users' actual phone number, it is not stored in device memory,
and cannot be retrieved in Android, nor in any other environment.
The only place the actual phone # is stored, is HLR - the DB of the cellular operator the SIM of the user belongs to.
Only the operator knows how to translate SIM ID (IMSI) to phone number.
